Call Me!

Have you seen a teenager lately without a cell phone attached to an ear? Or do you hear the tap, tap, tap, of the keys sending a text to one of a million friends? Those were my thoughts as I began the design process of my new quilt, “Call Me!”.

I wanted to design a quilt with today’s youth in mind. Initially, I was going to make a quilt with a hopscotch design, that was until hubby mentioned no one plays hopscotch anymore! Of course, I thought, they play with cell phones…and so the light bulb clicked and “Call Me!” was the result. It could have just as easily been “Text Me!”, or just about anything that would fit on the screen.

Simple, graphic, web based icons fall within the border; however changing the icons to personalize the quilt would make it even more special. Does your teen/tween like a certain sport, or animal etc.? One of my quilt testers turned the solid blocks of the border into pockets for her granddaughter’s hair essentials and anything else she needed to keep.

This quilt is mostly piecing with a small amount of appliqué. I just zig zag the edges of this fusible appliqué quilt and it’s ready to go. Hope you enjoy it.
